"The many tapestries of order that permeate one's daily life become apparent only when one loses them, or oneself in them."

The Survivors of Violent Loss Program (SVLP) was founded in 1998 in San Diego. Other organizations provide similar services in several states. Services include support for families who have lost loved ones to a violent death and training for clinical, law enforcement, advocacy and spiritual care specialists. Most of us are members of the Violent Death Bereavement Society, created by Edward Rynearson, MD in Seattle. Under his leadership we have been trained in his model of Restorative Retelling. Our work incorporates many modalities for those who are traumatically grieved by understanding their unique needs.
