“All human life has its seasons, and no one’s personal chaos can be permanent: winter, after all does not last forever does it? There is summer, too, and spring, and though sometimes when branches stay dark and the earth cracks with ice, one thinks they will never come, that spring, that summer, but they do, and always."

T.Capote

Events

SVLP's annual events are listed below. To read about our upcoming events, click here.

Program Orientation provides an overview of the Survivors of Violent Loss Program, services and history in San Diego, California for future participants, their friends and family as well as interested community partners.

Survivors' Club is a peer-led support and activity group that meets to help members keep in touch with one another. Attendees are alumni of the program and are interested in giving others the kind of support that they often did not find for themselves. Their work includes a speaker's bureau, fundraising, picnics and 5K walks. Many photos are displayed on this website of the various activities. To get more involved, contact us through our contact page.

Candlelight Vigil is sponsored with area agencies and members of Victim's Assistance Coordinating Council (VACC) during Crime Victims Week every year. The Survivors of Violent Loss Program is a speaker and a sponsor at the event.

Holiday Memorial is an annual event that occurs midway in December as a potluck for survivors and their families.

Speakers Bureau is available for your group. We will work with you to create a program that fits your needs and our resources. We will develop a custom format using our Survivor Speakers, Professional staff along with video and power point presentations for your interests. Contact us through our contact page for your presentation and program development needs.

Crime Victims Oak Garden is a favorite venue for our Survivor Families in close collaboration with the Cara Knott Foundation who was instrumental in obtaining the site for Crime Victim Families. There are many trees planted here in memory of victims and is a source of respite for visitors. SVLP's annual picnic takes place at the Oak Garden on the First Saturday after Thanksgiving.
